La verdad sobre el caso Harry Quebert - The truth about the Harry Quebert affair

Hacía tiempo que un libro no me enganchaba tanto. ¡Y este me ha enganchado desde la primera hasta la última página! Lo encontré por casualidad buscando regalos para estas Navidades, y digo por casualidad porque yo cuando busco libros para mí no soy de irme a los últimos best sellers. Vamos, que leo cualquier cosa que me llame la atención, desde la Saga Crepúsculo (si, lo reconozco, tengo un alma teenager), a Truman Capote, pasando por Stieg Larsson con su trilogía Millennium, (otra que me enganchó pero bien, debo ser de enganche fácil).

Pero a lo que voy, la pregunta del millón en el libro es ¿quién mató a Nola Kellergan?, y con esa duda nos quedaremos hasta el final, porque este thriller da tantos giros de principio a fin que nos mantendrá en un sin vivir hasta que nos lo terminemos.

De la mano de uno de sus protagonistas, Marcus Goldman, joven escritor promesa de la literatura norteamericana, que intentará desentrañar el misterio a base de entrevistas y conversaciones con todos los personajes e intentar demostrar la inocencia de Harry Quebert, su mentor y principal acusado de la desaparición de Nola, iremos saltando en el tiempo entre 2008, cuando Harry es acusado, y 1975, cuando suceden los hechos.

Lo dicho, no os lo podéis perder. ¿Alguien se lo ha leído ya? ¡Feliz martes!

It was long ago since a book had me so hooked on. And this one hooked me from the first to the last pages! I found it out of curiosity looking for a Christmas present, by chance, as when I look for new books for me, best sellers chart is not the first place I check. Basically, I read anything that picks my curiosity, from the Twilight Saga (yes, I´m guilty, I have a teenage soul LOL) to Stieg Larsson and his Millennium Trilogy (another one that kept me hung up), stopping on Truman Capote.

Sticking to the point, the one million dollar question in this book is who killed Nola Kellergan? And with this question in mind you´ll keep reading and reading kept in blank and holding your breath till the very last page.

Guided by one of the main characters, Marcus Goldman, young writer and new promise of North American literature, who will try to solve the mystery by interviewing the rest of the people in the book, to try to prove the innocence of Harry Quebert, his mentor, and principal suspect of the vanishing of Nola, the lector will go back and forth in time between 2008, when Harry is officially accused, and 1975, when the disappearance happened.  

As I said, you cannot miss it, did somebody read it already? Happy Tuesday!  

Padre, el último mono

En lo que a literatura para futuros padres ser refiere podemos encontrar de todo, libros más o menos científicos, de una lectura amena y otros que son un auténtico coñazo, pero en su gran mayoría, y con toda la lógica, enfocados al público femenino, pero ¿y los futuros padres?

Para ellos, yo sugiero como mínimo uno de los básicos que se lea su mujer, ya que nunca está de más saber más en detalle todos los procesos por los que pasamos durante el embarazo, qué es el meconio, o qué es una episiotomía, en el caso de necesitarla.

Pero además yo recomendaría para leer casi de una sentada y echarse unas cuantas risas el libro “Padre, el último mono”, de Berto Romero, Oriol Jara, Roger Rubio y Rafael Barceló.

El humorista y los tres guionistas de Buenafuente adentran al inexperto futuro papá en la paternidad siempre en clave de humor.

Sin duda lo recomiendo si nuestro hermano, compañero de trabajo, amigo, primo, etc va a ser papá, y también por qué no para leer por las futuras madres para tener una perspectiva diferente de todo el asunto, y como digo, echarse unas buenas risas.

Yo me lo he leído para este post y siendo cierto que soy de risa fácil, no tiene desperdicio.

Talking about books for mums and dads-to-be we can find nearly everything, books very scientific or not at all, very easy to read and others that are a pain in the ass, but most of them, logically,   focused on the feminine sector, but, what about the prospect dads?

I would suggest for them at least one of the basics his wife is reading, as it can always be handy to know more details about all the processes we pass through the pregnancy, what the meconium is, or what the episiotomy in case she needs it.

Besides I recommend to read nearly in one time and laugh out loud the book “Padre, el ultimo mono”, by Berto Romero, Oriol Jara, Roger Rubio y Rafael Barceló. The humorist and the three scriptwriters of Spanish tv show Buenafunte, introduce the inexpert dad to be to the paternity, always in a humorous tone. I´m afraid it is just in Spanish for now.

I would recommend it, with no doubt, if our brother, colleague at work, friend, cousin, etc is going to be a dad. Future mums could also read it, why not? So they can have a different point of view about the whole thing, plus having a good laugh.

I have read it to write this post, and being truth I laugh easily; I found it really worth reading.
